Brief History of Baccarat

The Basics of How to Play Baccarat

Baccarat maybe a bit intimidating at first especially with all the glitz, glamour and European popularity. Behind the intimidating feel, its a very decent card game with only three outcomes for every hand.

In fact, you need the bare minimum of skills to play and get started. 

As most table games such Blackjack, baccarat utilizes three to six standard 52-card debts which shuffled together and than placed inside a dealing machine called “the shoe”. Playing the game is as easy as it gets.

Baccarat Payout

Punter Hand Bets: You win if they punter hand is closer to 9 rather than the banker hand. And it gives our double or evens (1:1). For example a winning wage of $20 on the punter hand wins $20, bringing to total sum to $40 as the total payout. 

Banker Bets: If you place a bet on the Bank Hand and win, you will be paid evens minus 5% house fee. For instance, if you place $20 bet on banker and win, you will get $19 in winnings total. In this instance, $10 goes to the house for commission. 

Tie Bets: When you make a tie bet, you pretty much betting the Bank hand and Punter hand will have an equal total count. A winning tie bet pay out at 8:1. For Instance, you bet $20 on a tie and win, you will get $160 in winnings as well as retain the original wager of $20. 

One thing to remember is that all wagers placed on the banker and punter hand will be pushed if the result is a tie, which means that neither hand lost or won. You use your own discretion as to leave the bet as it is, remove it, switch it or reduce/add the chips. 

A Baccarat Bet You Should NEVER Wager!

Overall, Baccarat is a pretty safe casino game to place bet upon. However some bets are more riskier than others. In particular you want to avoid a tie bet as it will empty bankroll pretty quickly. 

How Come?

The tie bet usually has the largest payout as it pay 8 for 1 but it has the worst winning odds. 

The house has an advantage of over 14.36 percent. What this means?

This means if you were to bet a hundred of $1, you would under theory lose $14.36. That’s not a small sum of change. 

Your goals of gambling should be to profit yourself, not lose your bankroll to the house. 

By contrast, wagers bet on a banker (which pays 1:1) comes with a very favoring house edge of 1.06. This means you will on average lose approximately $1 for making one-hundred $1 wagers on the Bank. 

If giving a 5 percent commission on the Banker bothers you, you maybe better off on the Player which has a worse house edge of 1.24 percent. 

Betting on the Banker: The Easiest Baccarat Strategy

Unless you are not familiar, you have most likely heard that you should always wager on the Banker.

But why? Because betting alongside the Banker is not only the easiest but the least risky bet to wager. 

It has to do with math. 

Let’s explain. 

The house edge for betting on the Banker is 1.06 percent. On the same note, the return to player (RTP) or payout percentage for Banker wagered bets is an astonishing 98.94.

What this means? If you made a hundred $1 bet on the banker hand, you will receive $98.94. Keep in mind, that this metric is merely possibility and it only signals whether a specific wage is better or worse than another. 

The return to player of a wage placed on the bank hand of 98.94 percent tells you that’s it’s a bit better than a player hand wager, which has a return to player of 98.76 percent.

Additionally, a bet on a tie is more worse than either because of it’s low return to player of 85.64 percent. 

The logic behind betting on the Banker is always a safe bet goes beyond the logic of house advantage and return to player. 

How so? Let’s look at the math of the Banker betting baccarat method. 

Let’s assume the casino uses 8 standard 52-card decks while tie bets pay 8:1 and banker bets pay even minus 5 percent commission fee and you have a 1:1 payoff for Player bets. 

What does the math tell you?

1) Player hand loses 45.87 percent, wins 44.63 percent and ties 9.51 percent. 

2) Bank Hand loses 44.65 percent, wins 45.87 percent and ties 9.51 percent. 

If we remove the tie winning hands from the equation, the Banker hands loses 49.32 percent, while it wins 50.68 percent. On the flip side, 50.68 percent of the hand loses while 49.32 percent win.

By these odds it’s pretty clear the Banker hand bets are far more likely to win rather than lose. Meanwhile, the player hands lose more often than win. To remedy this, there’s a 5 percent commission fees on all winning Banker bets. 

You can include the 5 percent commission and ignore hands which tie, the Banker’s house edge is still quite a favorable 1.17 percent. What this means? For every $100 of Banker wagered bets will result in a probable loss of $1.17 under statistics while the same set of Player hand wagers will result in a probable lose of $1.36.

The numbers don’t lie as you are more likely to win if you wager your bets with the Banker!
