b. Stand: If you are satisfied with your hand and don’t want any more cards, you can “stand.” This means you decline any additional cards and wait for the dealer’s turn.
c. Double Down: If your initial two cards have a total value of 9, 10, or 11 and you believe that one more card will give you a strong hand, you can choose to “double down.” This involves doubling your original bet and receiving only one additional card.
d. Split: If your initial two cards have the same value (e.g., two 7s or two 10s), you have the option to “split” them into two separate hands. This requires placing an additional bet equal to your original bet. Each split hand is then played independently, and you can hit, stand, or double down on each hand.
e. Surrender: In some blackjack variations, you may have the option to “surrender” if you believe your hand is weak. Surrendering means you forfeit half of your bet and end your hand.
5. Dealer’s Turn: After all players have made their decisions, it’s the dealer’s turn to play. The dealer reveals their face-down card and follows a predetermined set of rules for drawing additional cards. Generally, the dealer must hit if their hand total is 16 or less and stand if their hand total is 17 or more.
6. Compare Hands and Payouts: Once the dealer has completed their turn, the hands are compared. If your hand total is higher than the dealer’s without exceeding 21, you win and receive a payout equal to your bet. If the dealer’s hand is closer to 21 or you bust (exceed 21), you lose your bet. If you and the dealer have the same hand total, it’s a tie or “push,” and your bet is returned to you.
It’s important to note that specific rules and variations may exist depending on the casino or online platform you’re playing on. Additionally, there are various blackjack strategies you can employ to maximize your chances of winning, such as basic strategy and card counting. However, these strategies require practice and understanding, and there is no guaranteed way to win every hand.
